Trees are a source of habitat for so many animals and birds. Trees inhale carbon dioxide and many other harmful gases and exhale oxygen for us to breathe clean air. Can we think of existing without such trees? Definitely the answer is “NO”.
“Someone’s sitting in the shade today, because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”
It is because of the plants and trees that we are breathing, enjoying timely rains, conserving soil and wildlife. In the name of urbanization we are cutting down the trees with no empathy for our future generations.
We celebrate environment day to enlighten about the importance of planting saplings. This should not be a one day task, where we plant trees on one side and cut them down on the other hand. Climatic changes can be controlled by planting more trees, because trees regulate the temperature. To make our lives sustainable and secure for our upcoming generation, there is a need to urge our people to not only plant more trees but also protect the greenery. We have taken a step towards protecting our environment.
A plantation program together with NSS volunteers of SSMRV Degree College was held at Spoorthivana, Magadi road. An event to motivate people to plant more trees and to create awareness among citizens about importance of planting trees was organized at Thirthashrama Old Age Home, JP Nagar. 50 saplings were planted. Around 50 saplings were planted at Ashraya Vruddhashrama, Uttarahalli. We also sponsored one day meal to the inmates of Ashraya Vruddhashrama. A plantation programme in association with the students of Oxford College was organized at Desire Society. We would render our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ravi, Mr. Shubhash and Desire team and Dr. Aparna Rao, Principal of Oxford College.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
So save mother earth, plant more trees and promote greenery.
